Pearson Edexcel Functional Maths Skills – Entry 3

Course overview

This course is designed for you  to develop understanding and skills in mathematics. It gives you  the opportunity to: 
  • demonstrate a sound grasp of the underpinning skills and basics of mathematical problem-solving skills appropriate to the level, and the ability to apply mathematical thinking to solve problems in familiar situations 
  • achieve the skills for further study at Levels 1 and 2 
  • achieve a foundation for progression into employment.

This course is for anyone looking to become confident in their use of fundamental mathematical knowledge and skills. Functional Skills qualifications support you to demonstrate you understanding by applying their knowledge and skills to solve simple mathematical problems or carry out simple tasks.

The average duration length of the course is 55 hours.

You will study the following 

Using numbers and the number system – whole numbers, fractions and decimals

Using common measures, shapes and space

Handing information and data

Through online using Google Meet,  Google classroom and Zoom, Moodle Virtual Learning Environment and  classroom.

This course is a 100-minutes (One and 40 minutes) externally set on-demand assessment, internally marked and externally verified. There are two components of the assessment. The first one is 

Section A: Non-calculator – 25 minutes

Section B: Calculator – 75 minutes

No prior knowledge, understanding, skills or qualifications are required before learners register for this qualification. You should however be proficient to Entry Level 3.

At the end of the course, you will achieve Entry 3 certificate in Functional Skills Maths. You can progress to Level 1 Functional Skills in Mathematics.
